gibi birbirinden farklı birçok alanda öğrencilerimiz büyük başarılara
imza atmaktadır. Geçtiğimiz sezonlarda olduğu gibi bu yılda çok sayıda
kupa ve ödül öğrencilerimizin uzun ve zorlu mücadeleleri sonucunda
üniversitemizdeki yerini almıştır. İstanbul Aydın Üniversitesi,
Basketbol, Voleybol, Bilek Güreşi, Tenis, Boks, Futbol, Futsal, Güreş,
Karate, Muay-Thai, Yüzme, Dağ Bisikleti, Snowboard, Ralli, Plaj
Voleybolu ve Amerikan Futbolu branşlarında sağladığı alt yapı, tesis ve
profesyonel antrenörle çalışma imkânı gibi olanaklarla öğrencilerini
profesyonel spor hayatlarına hazırlamaktadır. Üniversite, oluşturduğu
tüm takımlarda ve katılım sağladığı tüm ferdi yarışmalarda kürsüde
olmayı hedeflemiş ve hedeflerini gerçekleştirmiştir. Bu anlamda son iki
yılı sporda altın çağı olarak geçiren İstanbul Aydın Üniversitesi
Sporcuları son olarak Hollanda’nın Roterdam şehrinde 24 Temmuz – 8
Ağustos 2014tarihleri arasında 35 ülke, 180 üniversite ve 2900’ün
üzerinde sporcunun katılımıyla Badminton, Basketbol, Futbol, Futsal,
Hentbol, Kürek, Rugby, Masa Tenisi, Tenis, Voleybol branşlarında
düzenlenen II. Avrupa Üniversitelerarası Spor Oyunları’nda Avrupa
Şampiyonu oldu.

Tenis Branşında erkekler kategorisinde ülkemizi ve üniversitemizi
başarıyla temsil eden Antrenörlüğünü Öğr. Gör. Pero Duygu Dumangöz,
Yardımcı Antrenörlüğünü İAÜ Yazılım Mühendisliği ( İng.) öğrencisi
Zülküf Seçkin’in yaptığı ve İAÜ Sanat Yönetimi Bölümü öğrencisi Umud
Barış Ergüden, İAÜ Sanat Yönetimi Bölümü öğrencisi Barkın Yalçınkale,
İAÜ Bilgisayar Mühendisliği ( İng.) Bölümü Öğrencisi Bulut Yılmaz, İAÜ
İç Mimarlık Bölümü öğrencisi Sercan Şencan’dan oluşan Erkek Teniz
Takımımız, finalde Polonya Kozminski Üniversitesi ile 6 saat süren
zorlu bir müsabakanın ardından Avrupa Şampiyonu olarak bir ilki
başarmış ve ülkemize ilk kez Üniversitelerarası Avrupa Müsabakalarında
Tenis branşında şampiyonluk kupasını getirmiştir.

İstabul Aydın Üniversitesi Erkek Tenis Takımı, çeyrek finalde İngiltere
Stirling Üniversitesi’ni, yarı finalde ise Moskova / Moscow State
University of Economics and Statistics yenerek finale çıkmaya hak
kazandı. Avrupa Üniversitelerarası Oyunları’nda ülkemizi başarıyla
temsil eden Aydın Üniversitesi Tenis Takımı, 16 ülkeyi geride bırakarak
Avrupa Şampiyonu oldu.

Şampiyonluk, 22 İkincilik, 17 Üçüncülük, 12 Özel Turnuva Birinciliğiyle

madalyanın sahibi oldu.

Aydin University Sportsmen, added another success to its continuing
success this season by becoming Europe Champion. Our sportsmen who
wrote their names in golden letters in Turkish Tenis, wrote history in
The Netherlands.
Istanbul Aydin University, supports its
students’ successes by reflecting its quality of education in student’s
social lives. Besides their quality of education, the students of IAU
are also very successful in branches such as art, sports, and
technology. Like past seasons, the students of Istanbul Aydin
University brought home numerous trophies and prizes this year as well.
Istanbul Aydin University helps the students prepare its sportsmen for
their future professional sports careers with professional coaches
specializing in not only Soccer and Basketball but also for Volleyball,
Arm Wrestling, Tennis, Boxing, Futsal, Wrestling, Karate, Muay-Thai
Kickboxing, Swimming, Mountain Biking, Snowboarding, Rallying, Beach
Volleyball, and American Football. IAU, in all team and individual
competitions, always aimed for success and has achieved its aim. In
this regard, Istanbul Aydin University sportsmen who are living their
golden age for the past two years, achieved the title of “”Champion of
Europe”” in the city of Rotterdam in a competition that took place
between 35 countries, 180 universities and 2900 sportsmen in the 2nd
Europe Universities Sports Games. The games took place between July 24-
August 8 and held competitions in Badminton, Basketball, Soccer,
Futsal, Handball, Rowing, Rugby, Ping Pong, Tennis and Volleyball.
IAU Men’s Tennis Team Rewrote Turkish Tennis History
In the branch of Tennis, Men’s Tennis category the sportsmen who
successfully represented our university and country were Coach IAU
Teacher Duygu Dumangoz, Co-coach IAU Software Engineering Student
(Eng.) Zulkuf Seckin. The sportsmen representing Turkey were IAU Art
Management Department Student Umud Baris Erguden, IAU Art Management
Department Student Barkin Yalcinkale, IAU Computer Engineering (Eng.)
Student Bulut Yilmaz, IAU Interior Architecture Student Sercan Sencan.
IAU’s team played against Poland’s Kozminski University in a breath
taking 6 hour struggle and after a long struggle managed to, in the
first time in Turkish history, become European Champions and for the
first time in history brought home the Interuniversities Europe
Competition championship trophy. By defeating Moscow State University
of Economics and Statistics and Czech Republic’s Technical University
of Ostrava, Istanbul Aydin University’s Men’s Tennis Team won the right
to join the quarter finals. In the quarter finals Istanbul Aydin
University won against United Kingdom’s Stirling University and in the
semi-finals won against Moscow State University of Economics and
Statistics and won the right to attend the finals against Poland’s
Kozminski University. Istanbul Aydin University, who represented our
nation with success in the finals became European Champion by leaving
16 universities behind.
“”We can’t get enough””
Confident in every branch and like always aiming to be on the
winner’s pedestal in every branch, Istanbul Aydin University’s
sportsmen are aiming for the top. With its 447 sportsmen who compete in
inter universities and special competitions, Istanbul Aydin
University, aims to become a name found in the Super League with its
teams and individual sportsmen. Istanbul Aydin University has
scholarships for success in sports and also gives sportsmen students
the chance to attend its sports school and also opens the door for its
students to join the national team in many branches. Istanbul Aydin
University, with the season long efforts of its students has achieved
42 championships, 22 second places, 17 third places, 12 special
tournaments first place and a total of 93 trophies and 53 gold, 53
silver, 65 bronze medals for a total of 171 medals.
The Double Champions: IAU Snowboarding Men’s Team
Last year, with the leadership of Turkey’s Turkish University Sports
Federation, the “”Universities Snowboarding Turkey Championship”” which
took place in Uludag, Bursa and the “”Istanbul University Snowboarding
Championship 2nd Stage”” were both won by Istanbul Aydin University in a
competition that included 400 students. According to the results IAU’s
Engineering and Architecture Faculty Interior Architecture student
Hasan Batikan who was competing in the National Sportsmen category,
broke the track record with 39 seconds and became champion of Turkey.
Faculty of Social Sciences Economy and Finance student Meric Dumlu
became 3rd in Turkey’s statistics with 42 seconds. With the point
advantage that Interior Architecture student Adem Ali
Abdulgaffarademoglu and Economy and Finance student Gorkem Bingol
fueled, Istanbul Aydin University took its place on the 1st place
pedestal against 40 universities, presenting IAU with two
championships.
IAU is winning gold, one by one
In a competition that took place in Hitit University in Corum, with
the organization of Turkish University Sports Federation, Istanbul
Aydin University defeated Karadeniz Technical University with a score
of 77-44 in the “”Advancement to Basketball Super League Competition””
and became one of the two universities which advanced to the Basketball
Super League. The players who displayed a successful game received 1
second place trophy and 14 silver medals and succeeded in carrying
Istanbul Aydin University to the winner’s pedestal.
IAU Women’s-Men’s Karate Teams couldn’t get enough of winning Trophies and Medals in the Turkish Championship
The World Karate Championship (W.K.S.U.) that took place in Turkey
this year was blown away by Istanbul Aydin University’s consecutive
victories. Istanbul Aydin University Karate team, made up of sportsmen
and students, represented Turkey and IAU against over 400 sportsmen
with great success. Championship for the Men’s individual kata
competiton went to Fine Arts/Fashion and Textile Design Department
Student Sabri Kiroglu while Higher Education School of Foreign
Languages student Bigem Giroglu, Interior Architecture student Kubra
Kocacik and Cagla Kiziltoprak snatched first place in the Teams Women’s
Kata Competiton. With the attendance of 42 universities in a
competition arena sponsored by Turkish University Sports Federation in
Amasya, the “”TUSF Turkey Inter Universities Karate Championship”” was
throttled by Istanbul Aydin University, who left its mark on the
competition with its number of medals and trophies won. A total of 16
medals and 3 trophies won by our male and female students led the
university to first place and once again showed the sportsmen/students
of IAU to their place on the 1st place pedestal.
IAU’s Men’s Volleyball Team is in the Super League
In the competition “”Super League Competitions”” that was organized by
the Turkish Universities Sports Federation that took place in
Eskisehir Anatolian University in 2012, Istanbul Aydin University’s
Men’s Volleyball Team ended the competition with 2nd place in the Super
League. The Volleyball Team won 1 second place trophy and 14 silver
medals and took their place on the winner’s pedestal once again.
A New Name in American Football: IAU
Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Speed, Strategy, Discipline,
Perseverance, are all traits that Istanbul Aydin University sportsmen
possess and plan to use and storm the American Football stage with
Istanbul Aydin University’s new American Football team. With its 45
players roster and a team of 11 sportsmen, the IAU American Football
team will be “”tackling”” and “”touching-down”” against other teams in
competitions soon and plans to be one of the top three teams in the
league.
